SACRED SITE PROTECTION
Cultural Heritage and EDUCATION
- Flora and Fauna Survey of OWMP
- Rock Art Studies in Joshua Tree
Partnering with the Bureau of Land Management and American Conservation Experience, the NALC has been increasing educational opportunities on the Preserve by putting a new interpretive trail on the Preserve as well as educational kiosks. New fencing ensures that Off-Highway Vehicles stay on designated routes.
Scientific Studies and Climate Change Research
In 2008, the NALC published a complete guide to the flora and fauna of the Old Woman Mountains Preserve. This scientific research has provided much needed information for an understudied area of the Mojave Desert.
Totem Pole Journey
The NALC sponsored the Totem Pole Journey to protect the sacred site Xwe’chi’eXen on the Pacific Coast in Washington.
